English as a Second Language (ESL) and Civics for Adults
ESL/Civics for Adults provides contextual instruction on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, naturalization procedures, civic participation and U.S. history and government while teaching English as a Second Language. These classes are offered to new immigrants, college students and other adults whose first language is something other than English. ESL classes are offered at the basic, intermediate or advanced levels to match students’ differing needs and prior proficiency in English. Upon graduating, students in the Civics class are well-prepared for the U.S. Citizenship (USCIS) written exam and oral interview. Students attend class for 3 hours/day, 4 days/week over the course of 8 weeks and graduate with a Certificate of Completion. Additionally, eligible students who have met the English proficiency requirements can enroll in the Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs.
